Absolutely, you read that right—Building STEPS proudly welcomed our 25th cohort of Baltimore City's most promising students! True to tradition, multi-year programming kicked off with an exhilarating day of teambuilding and adventure at Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center. The high school juniors spent the day building trust, forging new friendships, and setting the stage for a year filled with meaningful interactions.
BRINGING OUR MISSION TO LIFE
There was much to be thankful for at this year’s Volunteer Happy Hour. Cheers to the more than 150 volunteers who contribute to students’ success by hosting STEM Seminars, participating in Tour de Workforce and The Network Experience, providing academic and professional enrichment, and hosting summer interns. With nearly 450 high school students, college students and alumni engaged annually, volunteer support is critical to propel Baltimore's brightest students to college and career success.
THE IMPACT OF COLLEGE WORKSHOPS
Eighty-three high school seniors are immersed in the college access process. College Workshops cover the gamut starting with the importance of the college list, in-state vs. out-of-state options, submitting complete and competitive college, scholarship, and financial aid applications, and ultimately selecting the acceptance offer that maximizes college match. Guest presenters focus on essential nuances, including a panel of Building STEPS college students in the University of Maryland Incentive Awards Program. They are the ultimate role models! A special thank you to our 22 Writing Advisors.
